“We started having problems because of her violent attitude and messy request for sex all the time. She was making sickening requests, asking me to lick her private part, which I did on several occasions. I never knew she applied juju on her private part to hypnotise me, because no sooner did I start licking her private part than I completely abandoned my first wife and four children.

Nigerians Condemn Senate President David Mark’s Call To Censor Social Media

It may be recalled that Mark, a former communications minister, stated a few years ago that Nigeria’s poor were not ready for telephones.

Colorado Shooting Suspect- Charged with 116 counts of attempted murder

The former graduate student accused of opening fire at a Denver-area screening of the latest "Batman" film, killing 12 people, was formally charged on Monday with 24 counts of first-degree murder and 116 counts of attempted murder.

James Holmes, 24, was formally charged during his second court appearance since his arrest after the massacre during a packed showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" shortly after midnight on July 20.

The rampage left 12 people dead and 58 injured, including several who remain in critical condition.

Holmes, wearing jail garb and with his hair still dyed orange but with the color fading to pink in places, sat impassively at a table with two defense lawyers through the 45 minute hearing.

PDP wins Katsina bye-election

Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission has declared PDP’s Bilya Sani Yamel as the winner of Saturday’s bye-election for the Katsina State House of Assembly seat for Dutsi Constituency.

The result was declared in a statement issued in Katsina on Sunday by Alhaji Muntari Abu, INEC’s Public Relations Officer in Katsina State, quoting the Returning Officer, Alhaji Usman Abu, in Dutsi, the headquarters of Dutsi Local Government Area.

It said that Yamel, the PDP candidate, scored 17,537 votes, while Shuaibu Sani of the CPC scored 1,279 votes.
The bye-election was held following the death of Alhaji Tasiu Yamel, the legislator representing the area, in June after some illness. (NAN)

SNOOP DOGG BANNED FOR MARIJUANA POSSESSION

Snoop Dogg has been banned from gaining access into Norway for a period of two years, after officials caught the rapper with 8 grams of Marijuana.

His lawyers confirmed the ban came down on Snoop when he tried to enter the country last month, June 28 at the Kjevic Airport in Kristiansand

They have also stated that the rapper ‘can live with the decision’ as he has no immediate plans to appeal the ban.

Nigeria WinsTunisia In Olympic Basketball

Alade Aminu scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Ike Diogu added 13 points and 10 rebounds as Nigeria just beat Tunisia 60-56 in the opening game of the Olympic men's basketball tournament.

Al-Farouq Aminu, who played for the NBA New Orleans Hornets last season, added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Nigerians, who have not lost to reigning African champion Tunisia in international competition since 1987.

The two African sides in the London line-up were both making their Olympic debuts in the Group A round-robin contest. The top four teams in each of two groups advance to the medal playoffs.

UNN Students Affairs office set ablaze

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) Student Affairs Department, was on Saturday set ablaze by unidentified persons.
The fire destroyed property worth millions of Naira, including vital documents.
An eye witness said that the fire which gutted the office of the Dean, Student Affairs of the university, started early in the morning.

“The people who committed the crime used fuel to set the place on fire.
“If not for the quick intervention of fire fighters from Nsukka office of Enugu State Fire Service, the fire could have spread to other buildings close to the student affairs department.
“The fire destroyed computers, documents and other office equipment in the office of the dean of student affairs.
“UNN security has cordoned off the area to bar people from entering the place,” the eye witness said

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Administration), Prof Malachy Okweze, confirmed the incident, and said the fire was the handiwork of detractors who were not happy with numerous achievements of Prof Bartho Okolo, the Vice-chancellor.
“It is unfortunate that somebody carried out such an evil act by destroying property of the university,
“The university will do everything to fish out the perpetrators of that evil act.
‘The actions of the detractors will not deter the present university administration from continuing with its good work,” he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Enugu State, Mr Ebere Amarizu, also confirmed the incident and said the police had commenced investigation into the matter.
“The police have commenced investigation into the fire incident which gutted UNN student affairs department early Saturday morning.
“Office equipment and vital documents were destroyed but there was no loss of life,’ Amarizu said.

THE National Universities Commission, NUC, is keeping mum over the declaration by the House of Representatives that its withdrawal of operational licenses of seven private universities is null.

Last Thursday, the House committee on Public Petitions declared that the NUC action is “null and void, ultra vires and of no effect.”

Presenting its recommendations, committee chairman, Representative Uzo Azubuike said NUC should not to take further steps that will in any manner interrupt the normal academic programmes and activities of the accredited courses of the affected universities.

EFCC Names First 20 Suspects To Be Arraigned Over $6.8 Billion Fuel Subsidy Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has concluded arrangements to prosecute the first batch 20 suspects implicated in the oil subsidy fraud. The suspects, comprising six oil companies and 11 individuals, will be docked in Lagos courts.

William Balfour, the man who was convicted for the 2008 murders of Jennifer Hudson’s mother, brother and nephew has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a Chicago judge.

In what almost seemed like a rage, Cook County Circuit Judge Charles Burns rejected William Balfour’s claims that he was innocent of the crimes.

‘You have the heart of an arctic night, your soul is as barren as dark space’, Burns told Balfour.

Balfour, 27 who was Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson’s former brother-in-law was first convicted in May 2012 of first-degree murder in the 2008 shooting deaths of Hudson’s 57-year-old mother, Darnell Donerson; her 29-year-old brother, Jason Hudson; and her 7-year-old nephew, Julian King.

Balfour offered his condolences to the Hudson family while maintaining that he didn’t kill their relatives.

‘My deepest prayers go out to Julian King. I loved him. I still love him. I’m innocent, your honor’, he said.

Jennifer Hudson who chose not to make a statement during the trial, testified that she had known Balfour since the eighth grade and always disliked him.

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. -- An early morning jolt has struck Southern California.

According to sacbee,the U.S. Geological Survey says an earthquake with a 3.8-magnitude rattled the greater Los Angeles area at 3:18 a.m. local time. The temblor was located 2 miles east south east of Marina del Rey.

A dispatcher with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said it "wasn't much of a quake" and that he hasn't had any calls from the public about it.

Within half an hour of the quake hitting, dozens of people had reported feeling the shaking on the USGS website, including some as far away as Riverside.

Man Kills Best Friend Over Jeans

A 25-year-old painter from Kogi State, Iman Bello, is now cooling his heels at the Divisional Police Headquarters in Gwagwalada for the murder of his best friend, Chibuzo, during a fight over a pair of jean trousers.

Recalling what happened, Iman disclosed that the deceased was his close friend and that they used to wear each other’s clothes without problems. “We were friends. We used to wear clothes together. He took my jean trouser and refused to return it,” he said. Click to continue reading…

Colorado shooting suspect's 1st court appearance

The 24-year-old former graduate student accused of killing 12 people and wounding 58 at a Colorado movie theatre last week has made a brief court appearance, looking sleepy and disoriented with dyed orange-red hair.

James Holmes kept his eyes downcast and said nothing during the brief hearing. He is scheduled to be formally charged next Monday.

Holmes was arrested outside a movie theatre in Aurora shortly after a mass shooting at a midnight Friday screening of the latest Batman film.

He has been held in solitary confinement at a Denver-area county detention facility, Aurora police Chief Dan Oates said, and is not co-operating with police.

"He's not talking to us," Oates said.

District Attorney Carol Chambers said Monday her office is considering pursuing the death penalty against Holmes. She said a decision will be made in consultation with victims' families. Uniformed sheriff's deputies were stationed outside the courthouse, and deputies were positioned on the roofs of two buildings at the Arapahoe County Justice Center.

Usher's 11yr old stepson dies

TMZ reports that Glover was removed from life support after it was determined the injuries were too severe to overcome. Sources say Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster, mother of Kyle is devastated as she struggled with the decision.

The 11-year-old was involved in a Jet Ski accident which left him brain dead after he was airlifted to Atlanta’s Egelston Hospital.

The accident is still being investigated.

Sex workers protest visa denial to AIDS conference in US

KOLKATA (AFP) – Hundreds of sex workers from around the world who said they were denied visas to attend an international AIDS conference in the United States began their own meeting in Kolkata on Saturday in protest.

Some 550 representatives of sex workers from India and 41 other countries were attending the seven-day event in the eastern Indian city, organisers said.

“Sex workers wanted to be a part of the US conference to fight the challenge of HIV/AIDS across the world,” said Bharati De, secretary of the Committee for Coordination of Indomitable Women, which represents sex workers in Kolkata.

India’s AIDS control programme has cut new HIV/AIDS infections by 50 percent in the last 10 years. The country has an estimated 2.4 million people with HIV.

One of India’s key strategies has been to scale up preventive education campaigns among high-risk groups such as sex workers.

Atleast 12 Dead in Movie Theater Attack

(AURORA, Colo.) - Colorado police spokesman revises death toll and says at least 12 are dead in movie theater attack.

According to AP, A gunman wearing a gas mask set off an unknown gas and fired into a crowded movie theater in suburban Denver theater at a midnight opening of the Batman movie "The Dark Knight Rises," killing atleast 12 people and injuring at least 50 others, authorities said.

Moviegoers didn't know what was happening and some thought the attack was part of the show. Then they saw a silhouette of a person in the smoke at the front of the theater near the screen, pointing a gun at the crowd.

"I told my friend 'we've got to get out of here,' but then he shot people trying to go out the exits," Jennifer Seeger told NBC's "Today." She said the shooter made his way up the aisle, shooting as he went, saying nothing.

Some of those injured are children, and victims are being treated for chemical exposure apparently related to canisters thrown by the gunman. The shooter, a man in his 20s, was arrested shortly after the attack at 12:30 a.m. MDT at the multiplex theater at a mall in Aurora.

FBI spokesman Jason Pack said there's no indication in the investigation so far of any connection to terror groups.

It was the worst mass shooting in Colorado since the Columbine High School massacre on April 20, 1999. Students Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17, opened fire at the school in the Denver suburb of Littleton, about 15 miles west of Aurora, killing 12 classmates and a teacher and wounding 26 others before killing themselves in the school's library.

Road Named After First Lady Patience Jonathan In Abuja

Dame Patience Jonathan Road today became Abuja’s newest road. Named for the wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, the refurbished road links the Defence Police Officers Wives Association (DEPOWA), which was responsible for its construction, with Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Barracks.

The gesture comes four months after the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed, unilaterally renamed the Maitama Extension District in Abuja as Goodluck Jonathan District.

Speaking at today’s commissioning ceremony, Mrs Apolonia Petinrin, the president of DEPOWA, said her association executed the project with the assistance of the armed forces and the police.

Noting that the road had been in a terribly dilapidated state, she explained that compassion for the less privileged in the community was responsible for the decision of her association to improve its condition.

FUTA Female Student Shoplifts 32packs of Condom from a Shopping Mall

Police in Akure on 18th July arrested a 27-year-old student of Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) for shoplifting 32packs of condoms from a shopping mall.
The lady, who didn’t know she was being monitored, pretended several times to be queuing behind other customers waiting to pay. She was also pretending to be receiving and making phone calls before she suddenly made her way through the exit and ran off with the items. But security guards caught up with her and she was later arrested by the police.

OAU student remanded for fraud

A Federal High Court sitting in Enugu has ordered that one Daramola Olawole, a student of Obafemi Awolowo University be remanded in prison custody pending the determination of his bail application.
The accused person was arraigned on 2 July by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC on a four- Count charge for allegedly defrauding one Rev. Jeffrey Ramsey when he fraudulently presented himself as a customs agent.

According to the complainant, he fell prey to the suspect’s fraudulent activities when he responded to an internet advertisement posted by Daramola in which some cars were displayed for sale at the cost of Two Hundred Thousand Naira (N200,000.00) each.
When the complainant offered to buy four of the cars, Daramola demanded for customs duty from him. The complainant said he paid the sum of N80, 000.00 (Eighty Thousand Naira) into Daramola’s UBA account number 006780024414 in two instalments. After the payment was made, Rev. But prosecution counsel, Ene Kenechukwu told the court that he was served with the bail application at 9 a.m on the day of arraignment and asked for time to enable him respond to it. In addition, he urged court to remand the accused person in prison custody.
Justice Mohammed granted the prosecution’s request and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody and adjourned the case to July 10, 2012.
However, the bail application could not be heard on July 10, 2012 as the judge was said to be indisposed.

The least sexually satisfied people in the world, according to the survey, are the Japanese, with 15 per cent of respondents from that country giving their love lives a thumbs-up.

The survey also measured average time of sexual intercourse among respondents. “The Nigerians take the longest time over sex, at 24 minutes per session, while Indians have the quickest sex, at 13 minutes,” it
stated.

Durex had also carried out a survey last year which revealed that Nigerian women are the most unfaithful.

What Peter Okoye told an Encomium magazine reporter:
She has been diabetic for years, and when it started many months back, we got good doctors to treat her in Jos. But when we couldn't get good result, we brought her to Lagos. We took her to St Nicholas Hospital and everybody who went to see her in the hospital cried. She had lost a lot of weight and couldn't recognise us. She called me Jude. I can never forget that day.

She went through a lot and gradually she got stabilized thereafter she was moved to the intensive care unit (ICU) and she spent two to three weeks there. So we thought of moving her to South Africa, India or the US for proper check up. We eventually took her to India about four weeks ago and we talked every one hour. The Indian doctors made sure to clean everywhere before the surgery, and the operation was successful. Our sisters who were with her confirmed this to us and we were very happy to hear the good news. She was okay before the eventual death and for a day one of my sisters was unconscious because she couldn't believe it.

We wanted to travel to India the following day she died (Thursday July 12) but we changed our plans. Her body arrived Lagos on Sunday July 15th. No concrete arrangement yet on the burial.
Mrs Josephine Okoye was in her early 60s and was a pastor living in Jos. She's survived by her husband, 7 children, and 4 grandchildren. May her soul continue to rest in perfect peace, amen.

Access Bank, CBN, Others Culpable In $6.8 Billion Petrol Subsidy Fraud

Access Bank financed the importation of about 40 per cent of the petrol brought into Nigeria in 2011 and received, into accounts at its branches, a similar percentage of the N2trillion the FG paid as subsidy during the period.

Access Bank and other Nigerian banks played major roles in the fuel subsidy scandal of 2011 and have several questions to answer, a PREMIUM TIMES investigation has shown.

Sources at Access Bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and the oil industry say that although there is no apparent focus on the role of Nigerian banks in the whole scandal, some of them, particularly the major players like Access Bank helped perpetrate the fraud.

While N240billion was approved in the 2011 budget as petrol subsidy, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Nigeria’s finance minister last week told the Nigerian Senate that the Federal Government actually paid 2.19 trillion as subsidy to petrol importers.

Following pressure on the administration by civil society and other Nigerians over the implementation of the recommendations of the House of Representatives committee, which probed the fuel subsidy payment for 2011, the government set up two committees. A technical committee was first set up by the Finance Ministry, followed by a presidential committee, set up to review the work of the technical committee. Both committees were headed by Access Bank's Group Managing Director, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.

How TV presenter, Gawat’s car was found, by LASTMA

IKEJA—General Manager of Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Mr. Babatunde Edu, has explained how the agency recovered the abandoned vehicle of the missing popular television presenter, Alhaji Rasak Gawat, who was declared missing since last Wednesday.

He said a black colour four-runner Toyota SUV with number-plate RE 77 AAA was discovered on Eko Bridge inward Apongbon at 11:45p.m. on Tuesday by LASTMA officials led by the Zonal Head, Mr. Akinpelu Ayuba, while conducting safety checks on the bridge.

The vehicle was parked close to the kerb with no sign of accident except that the hazard light of the vehicle was on and the four doors locked.

According to Edu: “Our officials, thinking that the unknown occupant (s) had ran out of fuel and had gone to source for same or in dire need of assistance, and to ensure the safety of the occupant (s) and also render assistance if need be, formed a search group to look out for the owner of the vehicle.”

Ekiti Fed varsity admits 400 pioneer students

ADO-EKITI—The management of newly-established Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, has said only 400 students out of 11,560 that applied for admission would be admitted as pioneer students, for the Oye and Ikole campuses of the institution.

Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Chinedu Nebo, said this in Oye-Ekiti, weekend, at a briefing to wrap up the post-JAMB test for prospective students.

Nebo,who spoke through the university’s Acting Registrar, Mr. Abiodun Adeyemo, said the institution would commence academic activities with five faculties; namely Humanities, Sciences, Agriculture, Social Sciences and Engineering.

The Acting Registrar said the pioneer students would resume formally on July 25, making the university the first to take off among the nine newly- established universities by the Federal Government last year.

The Vice-Chancellor assured that the students shall not only be sufficiently made to pass through academic training alone, but would be exposed to skills acquisition programmes that will guarantee self-employment after the completion of their courses.

He said the dream of the institution was to train students that will be employers of labour rather than the situation in conventional universities, where graduands turn out to be jobless for several years after graduation.
