Female Cashier Bolts With N2m

A female cashier with Kentuckey Fried Chicken, KFC, is now facing trial for allegedly diverting the eatery’s sales proceeds and claiming it was snatched from her.
The incident happened when Hope James was asked to go and pay in the money in a bank at Festac, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

The 27-year old cashier was arrested and charged to Isolo Magistrate’s court for alleged conspiracy and stealing.

The total amount she allegedly stole was N2,148, 290, belonging to KFC.

The defendant was employed as a cashier at the Festac branch of the company before this incident happened.

P.M.NEWS learnt that when she was arrested, she claimed that the money was snatched from her when she was going to the bank.

She was charged on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing under sections 409 and 285 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.

She pleaded not guilty and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs M. O. Ajayi granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Hope was, however, remanded in prison custody after she failed to meet the bail condition.

The matter was adjourned till 30 October, 2012
