Former FIFA referee Pierluigi Collina has hailed Ronaldinho’s goal against Chelsea in 2004-05 as the best he ever saw from the field.
The Brazilian attacker, currently on the books of Flamengo, scored Barcelona’s second goal of the night with the outside of his boot in the Blaugrana’s 4-2 loss in the Champions League.
“The goal that impressed me the most was Ronaldinho’s strike at Stamford Bridge,” Collina told Uefa.com.
“A shot from the edge of the box that no one expected, it surprised everyone.”
Collina, who quit refereeing in 2005, also confessed that he would have loved to officiate a match at the Bombonera in Buenos Aires.
“I was lucky enough to officiate matches in magnificent stadiums,” Collina added. “But I never refereed at the Bombonera.
“I have watched some of Boca Juniors’ matches and the atmosphere in that stadium is intense.
“That is a stadium where I would have liked to have refereed.”
