In the aftermath of the horrific tragedy that struck the country yesterday, Nigerians are still reeling in the shock and coming to terms with the maginitude of the disaster.
A passenger plane from Abuja on Sunday crashed into two houses at Iju, a suburb of Lagos metropolis, killing all 146 passengers and seven crew members on board.
The houses are located on Akande Street, in the densely populated area.
President Goodluck Jonathan declared three days of mourning and while Nigerians mourn and unearth more bodies, the world joins her in this upsetting period.
The US ambassador to the United Nations, Susan E. Rice took to twitter minutes ago to condole with the bereaved families.
She tweeted: “We extend our deepest condolences to those who lost loved ones in yesterday’s tragic plane crash in #Nigeria, including U.S. citizens.”
All aboard the ill-fated flight lost their lives and at the time this report was made, families and friends of several victims are thronging at Mortuary section of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital- awaiting identification of the bodies of their loved ones.
