FGC Kano High School : Two Students Killed, Four Injured

The authorities of Federal Government College (FGC), Kano, have confirmed to reporters that two of its students were killed in an attack yesterday(11th June) by unknown gunmen. Four others were also injured, the school said today.

This confirms the report by SaharaReporters which broke the story last night about the shooting of the students.

The Police said the attack took place in "Yar Akwa –Lai Moshalashi" an area with lock up shops in the Naibawa quarters of the city.

According to Mrs Elizabeth Kasu, who is the school’s Vice-Principal in charge of Administration, the students, who were all in their final year, had been "de-boarded” in preparation for their final examinations.

Eyewitnesses said the students were attacked during a street soccer game but a police source said the students were killed while standing in front on a shop around 5:30 PM yesterday(11th June).

The bodies of the slain students and the injured have been moved to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano.

The Nigeria police in Abuja had earlier issued a statement denying that any form of attack happened in the school. Also last night(11th June), the National Emergency Management Agency denied the attacks and killings.
