Fashola declares 1-week of mourning for plane crash victims



The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola yesterday declared one week of mourning for those who lost their lives in Dana plane crash, killing 153 passengers on board and over 30 on ground. Speaking with newsmen in Bagauda Kathol press center, Lagos, the Lagos State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Lateef Aderemi Ibirogba said the decision became necessary to mourn the people lost in the crash.

Amid the grief caused by the devastating crash that left the state and entire country in a mourning mood, an ethnic fracas broke out between Yoruba,
Hausa in Yaba area of Lagos State, around Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) office near Moshood Abiola University Akoka, consuming no fewer than 13 persons.

According to the commissioner,” we are doing this for those who lost their lives and we will continue to pray for the repose of their souls. So all programmes of the state government this week has been cancelled. This is the decision of the Lagos State Government.”
