Two escape DEATH in Enugu community for KILLING 23 VULTURES
Two persons narrowly escaped being lynched by a mob in Nkerefi, Nkanu East LGA in Enugu State, on Tuesday for killing vultures.
According to Ebere Amaraizu, the state’s police spokesperson, the mob descended on the two men, Wale Alabi and Polycarp Onyia, for allegedly using a poisoned substance to kill 23 vultures living in a shrine in Eke Nkerefi.
He said the incident attracted the attention of the villagers when they noticed that the vultures that usually perched on the ancestral tree located in the market started dying in numbers.
Amaraizu said the mob attacked the duo when they noticed they were packing the dead vultures into their sacks.
