JAMB to Introduce UTME e-testing in 2013

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will commence the conduct of e-testing of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination next year.
Registrar and Chief Executive of the Board, Professor Dibu Ojerinde made this known on Monday in Abuja when he received members of Senate Committee on Education.
Ojerinde said the board has concluded arrangement for the partial introduction of the e-testing for first two years, adding that it would be fully implemented after the test run.
The Registrar disclosed that plans were already on for the establishment of e-testing centres.
The Minister of Education had last week urged universities in the country to establish centres that would also be used by JAMB for the e-testing exercise.
Ojerinde also informed the lawmakers that several universities in the country have the ICT centres with some having over 2,000 computers.
He said when the e-testing is fully implemented, it would enable the Board to release results the same day.
He said the introduction of biometric has reduced the incidence of examination malpractice by 0.54 per cent during the 2012 UTME.
